A fantastic fishery played host to the Esthwaite Open event which saw a number of anglers competing over the two day event for a range of prizes from Turrall and the PFFA.
A big thank you to the fishery team at Esthwaite for kindly making available their water for the event and a big thanks to all the anglers that made the journey to this little gem of a fishing water.
Day one saw the anglers setting out and probing the water. Conditions for fishing weren't easy with weather having a hand in this and with groups of fish being quite localised across the lake. Despite the weather conditions the anglers managed a decent bag of fish. John Nelson and Darren Lord managed 14 fish with the best being a scraper 20lb for John.
Biggest fish of the day however went to Mike Gaston who took a lovely fish of 22 1/2lbs, a PB for Mike for a fly caught pike and well deserved in tough conditions. All the boats had fish with a good range of jacks and larger adults.
Day two saw the best fish of the day fall to Nigel Taylor at 19lb 12oz, fishing was tougher but never the less the dogged determination of the anglers brought in a number of fish for all.
Thank you to the PFFA for providing some classy tankards for the participants as we as Turrall who not only provided goodie bags for the vent but also prizes of Cortland lines and Turrall Flies and accessories.
