Chew and Blagdon played host to the annual pike competition 'Valley of the Giants', where anglers from across the country came to test their metal on some of the best Pike fishing that the UK has to offer.
Over 20 anglers competed over two days on the waters in boats. The days were tough with bright sunny days with little to no wind. The fishing was not as expected and some hard work was needed in covering areas and with plenty of casting but with over 200 pike there were still plenty of fish for the anglers.
Blagdon threw up plenty of jacks with some beefy pike coming from Chew. The largest pike came in at 29 lb 8 oz
Prizes included a mid week boat on Chew donated by Bristol Waters as well as gift vouchers and goodies. Turrall supplied Cortland Pike Lines for the winners as well as bandanas and Tie able stainless stell leaders. All competitors were given Turrall gift packs including flies, badges, traces and other useful items.
So all in all a great weekend with many happy anglers. Again many thanks to Turrall with some great support!
